Housing Support: Women's Housing Project

The Women’s Housing Project provides supported accommodation to vulnerable homeless single women who need short to medium term housing with support (two years shorthold tenancy). There are six self contained one bedroom flats with living room, kitchen, bathroom and hallway. A fridge freezer, cooker, carpets and curtains are also provided. One of the flats is fully wheelchair accessible.
Support is provided for up to three hours per week for each tenant by appointment in the flats. There is no office. The support is an integral part of the tenancy agreement.

Location

The accommodation is walking distance to the city centre.
There are bus routes near by and the train station is walking distance away.

Activities

Tenants and staff get together from time to time to discuss shared information and mutual concerns. Tenants are encouraged to attend activities arranged by York Housing Association - for example the Annual General Meeting held at National Railway Museum (2008).

Referral Information

Referrals are accepted from IDAS (Independant and Domestic Abuse Service)unless there is a void and IDAS are unable to make a referral to us. If this situation arose we would then contact other agencies. Applications for accommodation will be assessed by York Housing Association’s Operations Manager and the Housing Support Team Leader.

From our tenants

"It is good to know there is someone there when you need them for repairs or emotional support helping with budgeting etc".

"I have found the Support Worker helpful."
