Housing Support: Mental Health

York Housing Association provides permanent supported accommodation in York for adults with long term mental health problems.

Tenants are supported by Housing Support Workers available for between 45 minutes - 3hrs per tenant per week depending in the project. The workers are not at the properties in the evenings or weekends and are available at the property for part of each week day. An agency provides relief staff for a limited degree of cover at weekends at 2 of the projects.

The Association employs cleaners for the communal areas of the properties and tenants have responsibility for looking after their own rooms or flats.

Referral Information

Under most circumstances referrals are made by the applicants CPN or psychiatrist to the Mental Health Accommodation Officer of the City of York Council. Applications for this project will be assessed by York Housing Association’s Operations Manager and Housing Support Team Leader.
