Global Harmony wows South Bank Audience
Packed Clore Ballroom sings along and dances with the choir.
'Absolutely amazing! When can I see you again?' says one of the audience. She didn't know she liked choral music until she heard Global Harmony!
The day started very well with an uneventful journey until . well Westminster Bridge was closed! So we started the warm up with a brisk three quarter mile walk to the Festival Hall. We arrived just in time for the planned 12:00 pm sound check and practice. The pillars that hold up the ceiling of the ballroom dictate a narrow deep performance area which was fun as we normally stand 'wide and shallow' rather than 'narrow and deep' but well, so what it's all the same. As long as we can catch Liz's eyes and see her hands we can cope.
We strode on to the strains of Zomina and the audience made it clear from the start that they were up for a bit of fun. Old favourites, particularly 'N'kosi Sikelele', were well received as always. We also had some new sounds including 'It's gonna rain' a 'tour de force' with a magic finish that got them cheering and will be revealed if you come to the Christmas Concert.
The set lasted a full hour and the audience joined in on two of the songs including 'Vuma'. In the final number Liz had everyone singing a round, 'Bella Moma'.
Well done Liz and well done all the choir!
