Cosy but sensational!
Global Harmony's summer concert at Stanford-on-Soar Church was an uplifting experience for singers and audience alike last night
Global Harmony had been looking for a performing opportunity, particularly for those not able to go to the Loire Valley to sing on 16th-20th July, when the booking came through from Stanford-on-Soar. It sounded ideal! It was to be in the village church - far too small for the usual number of Global Harmony performers, but as some would be "saving themselves" for France and some would have already set off in advance to make a real holiday of the French trip, we knew the choir would be a small one this time. The space was just about right for standing room only for the 36 singers who wanted to take part. It was "cosy" and the dancing option was certainly out of the question!
The beautiful, richly carved and decorated church, had a wonderful acoustic and the choir gave it their all. They received a sensational response from the audience who warmed to the singers the instant they marched purposefully down the aisles with an invigorating opening freedom fighting song from South Africa.
There was a joyous atmosphere throughout the concert with both singers and audience thoroughly enjoying every moment.Very well done to all singers! With almost half the present number of members not performing this time it was proved last night that size simply doesn't matter - small or large Global Harmony can create a sensational evening that audiences find irresistible.
Thank you to Stanford-on-Soar for being such a lovely audience and thank you to the organisers for making the event such a super one. With the church pretty full we hope that their fund raising efforts were rewarded.
